§ 18. Mr. G. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he proposes to make any administrative changes in the machinery which deals with children deprived, for various reasons, of proper home care, in order that different standards of treatment accorded to these children may be avoided.
§ Mr. EdeAs foreshadowed in Part I of the White Paper on Social Insurance, proposals for bringing to an end the present system of public assistance are being worked out, and the legislation which is being prepared on this subject will provide administrative machinery for dealing comprehensively and effectively with the care of children who for various reasons are deprived of a normal home life.
