§ 39. Mr. Steeleasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what housing sites have been examined in the village of Douglas, Lanarkshire; what sites have been found suitable; what sites have not been taken up; and for what reasons.
§ Mr. BuchananTwo sites of approximately eight and a half and three acres have been examined. Of the first site some six acres have been approved for the erection of 56 houses by the Scottish Special Housing Association. Development of the remaining five and a half acres presents difficulty from the agricultural standpoint, but I have arranged for technical officers of my Department to examine the matter further this week in consultation with the County Council. I am writing to my hon. Friend in fuller detail.
