§ Mr. Marloweasked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that under the present arrangements, whereby the value of the sugar coupon has been increased for fruit preserving, persons suffering from diabetes, who have their sugar coupons cancelled, are deprived of this extra allocation and are thereby prevented from preserving fruit; and if he will take steps to make special provision for these cases.
§ Mr. StracheyI am in full sympathy with diabetics over this and have arranged for a "spare" coupon to be used for the extra one lb. of sugar which is available during the present rationing period. Diabetics will, therefore, be able to obtain this allowance.
