§ 46. Dr. Segalasked the Minister of Food why, despite the fact that the production and distribution of breakfast cereals has been fully maintained, no adequate supplies of cereals such as wheat-flakes, puffed wheat and grapenuts are yet available in Preston and other areas.
§ Mr. StracheyManufacturers of cereal breakfast foods are working to the limit of the existing capacity of machinery and labour but they are unable to meet the present very high consumer demand. As a result, supplies in most parts of the country are at present inadequate, although the total supply available, both in Preston and nationally is considerably in excess of the prewar quantity.
