§ 77. Mr. Boothbyasked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that the operations of the herring fleet are again being restricted on account of the quantity of herring; and, in view of the world food shortage, what steps he is taking to put an end to this restriction.
§ Mr. Strachey:The operations of the herring fleet and the export trade in herring are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Herring Industry Board, but in view of the world food shortage I am actively exploring with them the best means of utilising the herring catch so that restrictions can be reduced to the minimum. I am also doing all I can to increase the consumption of herring in this country
