asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will state, approximately, the loss of production in the cotton industry recently, owing to lack of coal supplies; and what action he is taking to ensure that mills are able to keep at work.

The loss of production in the cotton industry recently owing to shortage of coal supplies has been negligible. The closest attention is being given to the coal requirements of industry, including those of the cotton industry, at the present time.
