§ Mr. Bossomasked the Minister of Health how many licences his Department has refused for the erection of houses which it was proposed would be built of brick; and how many such refusals there. have been since 1st October.
§ Mr. BevanLicences for new houses to be erected by private builders are issued or refused by local authorities in pursuance of the powers delegated by the Minister of Works, and I do not know how many have been refused in respect of houses of brick construction. Tenders for houses to be erected by local authorities (which do not require a civil building licence) are submitted to me for approval, but the records of tenders rejected do not distinguish houses of brick construction from other types.
