asked the Secretary of State for War when he expects to complete the clearing of the site in the Ashton Marine Park, Lytham St. Annes, which was used by his Department during the war; and whether he will expedite the matter so that these grounds may be fully available to the public during the coming holiday season.

This is a redundant Anti-Airciaft site. The huts have been disposed of. There remain concrete emplacements and pill-boxes, which fall to50W be dealt with under the arrangements described in my answer to the hon. Member for Maidstone (Mr. Bossom) on 20th December. Meanwhile, such reinstatement as is possible with the available prisoner of war labour is being carried out. I regret that this work cannot be speeded up as no further prisoner of war labour can be supplied.
