Freemanasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has considered the protest of the Monmouthshire trades and labour councils, held at Newport recently, concerning the inadequate provision to bring more industries to Monmouthshire and to allow workers who have left this area before and during the war to return to their native county; and what further steps are being taken to meet this position.
§ Sir S. CrippsYes, Sir, and I am sending ray hon. Friend a copy of the reply which was sent to the Secretary of the Monmouthshire Federation of Trades and Labour Councils of 24th January. It is estimated that steps already taken should provide employment for some 6,000 men and 9,000 women.
