HL Deb 18 December 1946 vol 144 cc1133-4WA
The DUKE OF MONTROSE

asked whether arrangements have been made with the Regional Transport Commissioner for Scotland for additional bus transport between Drymen and Glasgow during the occupation of C.R.U. Number 20 by military troops or other forces as from December 12, 1946.

LORD WALKDEN

No request for additional facilities has been made to the omnibus companies or to the Regional Transport Commissioner. The need for such facilities will be considered on receipt of information as to what is required.

My right honourable friend the Minister of Transport understands that this Rehabilitation Unit has been occupied from time to time and its needs of omnibus transport have hitherto been provided by private hire. The bus company are prepared to continue this arrangement if necessary, on receipt of detailed requirements. Alternatively, they would consider any evidence of need for strengthening their Drymen-Glasgow service, and the Regional Transport Commissioner would give sympathetic consideration to any application made by the company for his authority to do so.
