HC Deb 09 December 1946 vol 431 c180W
Sir H. Morris-Jones

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether he will sanction a special date stamp, valid from Colwyn Bay post office, advertising the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales, 1947, in view of the fact that this is a Welsh national function, non-political and non-sectarian, supported by the whole Welsh nation and of world-wide interest.

Mr. Burke

I regret that I cannot authorise the use of a special date stamp for this purpose. It is necessary to confine the use of special advertising date stamps to matters which are of primary concern to the United Kingdom as a whole, and a departure from this principle in favour of the Eisteddfod would not be justified.
