HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 c106W
122. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for War for what reason the scheme to enable British schoolchildren to visit Service parents in Malta for Christmas has been abandoned.

Mr. Bellenger

A scheme for holiday visits was suggested, but I am sorry that owing primarily to the unsuitable travelling conditions for children, it was not found possible to proceed at present with the scheme. Proposals for visits during the summer holidays will, however, be examined. I have every sympathy with both parents and children and I hope that successful arrangements can be made.
