HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 cc98-9W
Mr. Medlicott

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he will cause inquiries to be made into the delay which is taking place in the delivery of a landing craft to Mr. Norris Scaife, of Horning, Norfolk, by the Directorate of Small Craft Disposals; and if he will give instructions for the delivery to be expedited.

Mr. Dugdale

I have made inquiries into the delay which occurred in this case. The Director of Small Craft Disposals was asked by the purchaser of the craft to arrange delivery at his expense. Certain inevitable delays which were quite outside the control of Director of Small Craft Disposals occurred during the course of these arrangements, due not only to the stress of the weather conditions at the time, but also to difficulties in arranging suitable transport facilities. The craft was, however, loaded and finally left on 20th November, 1946.
