HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 c81W
52. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Food why the exporters of tomatoes from Jersey have only been paid up to 21st September; and if he will put into operation the usual commercial practice of paying accounts weekly.

Dr. Edith Summerskill

I have received no complaints that payment for supplies of tomatoes exported from Jersey has been unduly delayed. Responsibility for payment to the exporters rests with the Tomato Distribution Associations in this country to whom supplies are sent and the arrangements for payment are outside my control. I will, however, gladly look into any particular case in which delay has occurred if the hon. Member will let me have particulars.
