Potatoes Acres Acres Cumberland 92,032 14,237 Westmorland 23,142 3,110 The agricultural machinery held by the Cumberland W.A.E.C. in 1945 included 148 agricultural tractors of various classes together with a complement of other machinery for cultivating and harvesting work, the cost of which was approximately £84,000. The Westmorland W.A.E.C. held 64 agricultural tractors and other agricultural machinery costing £38,000.
This machinery was available for cultivating lands in possession, for contract work undertaken by the Committees or for hire to farmers or contractors.
