119. Mr. Shawcrossasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that visitors to the Insurance and Companies Department of the Board of Trade at Romney House East, Tufton Street, Westminster, are harassed by the security regulations of his Department requiring them to obtain a War Office pass before admission; and if he will make provision for the discontinuance of this unnecessary practice.
Mr. Bellen£erThe security provisions at Romney House do not differ from those normally applied in buildings mainly occupied by my Department, whose position as a defence Department is a special one from the point of view of security. I regret any inconvenience that may be caused to visitors to offices of other Departments in Romney House but I could not agree to change the present arrangements.
