§ 101. Mr. Marloweasked the Minister of Works how many people are occupying how many rooms in the requisitioned portion of Rechabite Chambers, Brighton; and why he has ignored the offer of the trustees of the charitable fund, which now requires the premises for the use of ex-Servicemen, to provide him with alternative accommodation.
§ Mr. WilsonRechabite Chambers contains nine rooms and is occupied by 11 staff of the Ministry of Labour. Part of the accommodation is used for interviewing and waiting purposes. We did not pursue the offer of the trustees of alternative premises as we had a scheme for rehousing which we were fairly confident would be acceptable to the Departments concerned. Our proposals have now been accepted and arrangements are in hand which will I hope enable Rechabite Chambers to be vacated and surrendered in about two months time.
