§ 16. Mr. C. Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has considered the memorandum by the clerk to the justices for the borough of Colchester on the subject of the administration of the probation service, forwarded to him on 25th July by the hon. Member for Colchester; whether he is aware that the clerk has written to his Department on five occasions on this matter since 9th February, 1945, and has received no acknowledgment or reply; and whether he will communicate to the justices his decision on the point submitted.
§ Mr. EdeI have considered the memorandum sent to me by the hon. Member. I greatly regret the delay in replying to the representations made by the Colchester Probation Committee, and I will see that an answer is sent as soon as possible.
