asked the Minister of Works on what grounds the Service Department concerned refused to approve his representations for the release of 14996525 Lance-Corporal J. S. Parsons, a plumber and decorator, urgently required by G. Parsons and Sons, of Lewes.

Mr. Tomlinson:

In considering the release out of their turn of individuals who are claimed to be specialists, regard is paid to the size of the firm, its need for supervisory personnel and the age and experience of the man concerned. The circumstances were not considered to justify the release of Lance-Corporal Parsons who was only 19 when he was called up.
