§ 5. Mr. S. O. Daviesasked the Minister of National Insurance if he will grant to the unemployed and old age pensioners extra payment on Victory Day in order that they may participate in this day of national rejoicing with those more fortunately placed, particularly in view of the concessions that will be made on that day to those in employment and on Poor Law relief; and, in view of the splendid service given to the country during the war, by those who are now unemployed.
Mr. Lindģren:I regret that it would not be practicable to pass the necessary legislation and to make the detailed administrative arrangements which would be necessary to enable the extra payments suggested to be made.
