Vice-Admiral Taylorasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the principal articles of food, drink and tobacco included in the estimate of £350,000,000 obtainable from Empire sources, giving the quantities, values and countries of origin.
§ Mr. Dalton:The following table shows estimated imports of these supplies from Empire sources in the first half of 1946, totalling £162,500,000. I cannot, as yet, give such detailed analysis for the second half. But imports in this period are estimated at £170,000,000. The supplies likely to be available are less than when the original estimate of £350,000,000 was made.
mary of the report will then be telegraphed to London, Washington and Paris for publication there and in Athens. Copies of the full report will at the same time be transmitted to the Greek Government and to the Governments of the United Kingdom, United States and France. I hope to arrange for the publication of the report as soon as it is received.
