§ Mr. Linsteadasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether it is the intention of the Government to continue the regulation whereby a married woman is not transferred to an established post in the Civil Service unless the Civil Service Commissioners, the Treasury and the Department are satisfied that there are special reasons for the appointment; and if he will state in how many cases, during the last convenient period, sanction has been given to such a transfer.
§ Mr. Glenvil HallThe rules governing the employment of married women in the Civil Service are at present being reviewed by a Committee of the Civil Service National Whitley Council. Until recently no married women had been newly appointed to established posts (as distinct from being retained in such posts after marriage), but within the last few months sanction has been given for four such appointments.
