§ Mr. Bossom
asked the Minister of Works the number of man-hours required to build a traditional-built council house and to build his Ministry's emergency prefabricated house, respectively.
§ Mr. Tomlinson
The number of man-hours required to build the 862 feet super brick-built control house at Northolt, after 1537W adjustment for contracts of 500 houses, was 2,050; this figure depended upon the selection of a level site and upon the availability of a balanced labour force. The site labour required to build prefabricated temporary houses is averaging about 1,100 man-hours, but many of the houses are being erected in small groups, on difficult sites, during a period of labour shortage.
