HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 c86W
Mr. E. P. Smith

asked the Minister of Fuel now that the House is to sit from Mondays to Fridays inclusive, what steps he proposes to take to mitigate the predicament of Members, normally resident in the country, who will have to surrender their food rations to their London lodgings and will be, therefore, dependent upon their family's rations during the week-end.

Sir B. Smith

Arrangements are already in force to meet the situation described by the hon. Member. A person who is normally resident in a catering establishment and is absent for a period of 24 hours or more in each of four consecutive weeks, may obtain a temporary card for one week's rations in respect of each period of four weeks. The necessary form of application for the temporary cards can be obtained by catering establishments from their local food offices.
