HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 c70W
Mr. Medland

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the number of Servicemen rendered homeless by reason of their houses having been requisitioned in their absence on active service, he will draw a distinction in their case and give instructions for such houses when required for personal occupation by the owners, to be released immediately the owner is demobilised or within two months of such demobilisation.

Mr. Bevan

Every effort is being made to release houses from requisitioning for the personal occupation of the persons who owned them at the time of requisitioning. It is not, however, possible to insist that all such houses, or all such houses owned by Servicemen, should be vacated within a specified time in view of the difficulty of finding alternative accommodation for existing occupiers.
