§ Captain Bullockasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs when it is proposed to abolish the demarcation lines between the occupied zones in Austria; and if it is proposed to reduce the number of occupying armies in that country.
Mr. McNeilit is impossible at present to make a definite statement with regard to the occupation zones in Austria but His Majesty's Government are now considering the general question of the future policy of control in Austria in the light of the Austrian elections, As regards the second part of the Question, His Majesty's Government would be glad to see a reduction in the number of the occupying armies, but the matter does not rest with them alone. We are in consultation with the other Governments.
