HC Deb 27 November 1945 vol 416 c1251W
Captain Prescott

asked the Secretary of State for War how many men of age and service groups less than 30 have been posted overseas in the last two months and in which respective groups.

Mr. Lawson

This information could not be obtained without the expenditure of considerable time and labour in Record Offices. As the hon. Member is no doubt aware, posting of men to the Middle or Far East is restricted as a normal rule to Group 32 or later and postings to B.A.O.R. or C.M.F. to Group 26 or later. These rules have been in force for several weeks.

Flight-Lieutenant Beswiek

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, before any man is posted overseas for a second tour, every step is taken to see that there is no other suitable man available who has not yet served one tour away from this country.

Mr. Lawson

Under recent instructions employment is to be found in the United Kingdom, where practicable, for men who have completed an overseas tour. Alternatively, every endeavour is made to avoid sending such men abroad until others, if equally suitable, have been sent for a first tour.
