HC Deb 27 November 1945 vol 416 c1253W
Colonel Thornton-Kemsley

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that commanding officers are insisting on former agricultural workers serving with the B.A.O.R. taking their full 56 days agricultural leave now so that they will not have to be spared from duty later on; and whether, as most farmers need additional labour at harvest time rather than at this period of year, he will see that this practice is discontinued.

Mr. Lawson

The answer to both parts of the Question is "No, Sir." The grant of agricultural leave for the period after June, 1946, will be decided in the light of circumstances then prevailing, and will not be affected by the grant of any leave before that date.
