HC Deb 26 November 1945 vol 416 cc1027-8W
Captain Marsden

asked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been drawn to the unfair position in which retail traders are placed by lack of protection against short weight in goods received from suppliers; and will he take steps to secure amendments of the Sale of Food (Weights and Measures) Act, 1926, with the object of bringing all wholesale transactions within the scope of that Act.

Sir S. Cripps

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply which I gave on 5th November to my hon. Friend the Member for East Ham, North (Mr. Daines). When a general inquiry is possible, I will include consideration of the wholesale supply of food.
