Wakefieldasked the Secretary of State for War if he can give details of the number of staff officers at present in Singapore; and whether, in view of the deferred release of officers, who have borne the heat and burden of the day in various theatres, a great percentage of these staff officers could now be returned to regimental duty.
§ Mr. LawsonI regret I cannot give figures. They are changing continually at present because of the redeployment of the forces in S.E.A.C. and of the reductions being made on the reorganisation of various headquarter establishments. Wherever possible, staff officers are being returned to regimental duty, to free regimental officers and assist the Release Scheme.
