§ Sir P. Hannonasked the Secretary of State for War if he is prepared to consider reviewing hardship cases of officers who are forced by exceptional circumstances to relinquish their commissions and are not eligible for notice leave and clothing allowance.
Sir J. GriģģThe only officers who do not get any notice leave are those who go on account of misconduct, voluntary resignation, or having, in the case of a Regular, reached the age-limit. I do not think that in any of these cases absence of notice leave can be considered as a hardship. No officer is entitled to a clothing allowance on leaving the Service, but when the release period starts non-Regular officers leaving the Service will be entitled to the same civilian clothing as is given to other ranks.
