HC Deb 21 March 1945 vol 409 c822W
Mr. E. P. Smith

asked the Minister of Works whether he will reconsider his annual repairs limit of £10 per house in South-eastern England in respect of repainting weather-boarded houses, especially in areas near the coast, since most of these are already overdue for attention and, without such reconditioning, the weather-boarding will perish.

Mr. Sandys

In cases where maintenance work of this kind is absolutely essential, local authorities have been advised to issue licences.
