§ Mr. Viantasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that leaflets advertising diphtheria immunisation are being issued by local councils in various parts of the country, in which it is stated that 60,000 case of diphtheria occur in this country every year and that 3,000 deaths from that disease are recorded each year; and whether, in view of the fact that the latest records show 23,152 cases and 934 deaths, he will see that these figures are brought up to date.
§ Mr. WillinkThe leaflet to which the hon. Member refers is supplied to local authorities by the Central Council for Health Education and states in round figures the average number of cases and deaths in Great Britain over a ten-year period.
