Mr. R. Duckworthasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether figures have been laid before him to show the beneficial effect on our export trade of large motor vehicles should the tax be adjusted to enable them to compete with similar products of other countries; and whether he will make a statement on the matter.
§ Sir J. AndersonI fully appreciate the importance of developing our export trade in motor vehicles, but a number of important factors influence this matter besides the form and weight of domestic taxation. I am not aware that the relation between motor exports and motor taxation can be expressed in figures.
