§ Sir L. Lyleasked the Minister of Labour whether it is his intention to implement the proposal in Section 120 of the Departmental Committee Report on Higher Appointments wherein it is suggested that information discreetly verified from any past employer of an applicant will be made the subject of compulsory supply; and what arrangements will be made to ensure that it will be regarded without prejudice to the employer who supplies it.
§ Mr. BevinAs I understand the recommendation of the Committee there is no question of the compulsory supply of information. If an employer voluntarily furnishes information of the kind referred to in the Question, its disclosure to third parties would be subject to any conditions imposed by that employer.
