HC Deb 17 December 1945 vol 417 c1051W
Sir J. Lucas

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the position of civilians lately employed by the Japanese Government educational service, particularly with regard to payments of pensions already due.

Mr. McNeil

In the view of His Majesty's Government such pensions will rank as claims against the Japanese Government in any future reparations settlement. Pensioners will not necessarily, however, have priority in such a settlement over other legitimate claimants. The Trading with the Enemy Department are prepared to file in the usual way any claims in respect of pensions owing to United Kingdom persons by the Japanese Government for presentation at the appropriate time.
