Mr. W. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that wage negotiations in the Trinidad oilfields broke down last May; and what action is proposed to resume consideration of the unsatisfactory wages in this industry.

Mr. George Hall

Wage negotiations in the Trinidad oil industry were resumed on 26th November, and I am informed that there is a reasonable prospect of a new agreement being concluded in the near future.
