HC Deb 11 December 1945 vol 417 cc341-2W
Mr. Dodds

asked the Secretary of State for War if his attention has been drawn to the accumulation of stocks of men's sports goods and flannel trousers at demobilisation centres because of the preference expressed by the men concerned for ordinary suits; and if, in order to relieve the shortage of sports goods and flannel trousers for ordinary civilians, he will take steps to arrange for a release of surplus stocks from these centres.

Mr. Lawson

Although the present demands for sports jackets and flannel trousers are small compared with those for suits, this is being balanced by confining future production to suits, and I have no reason to expect that there will be a surplus of the sports outfits.
