HC Deb 11 December 1945 vol 417 c354W
Mr. Gammans

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he is prepared to grant special relaxation in the lighting of shop windows between 4 and 7 p.m. during the week preceding Christmas.

Mr. Shinwell

I should like to do this, but I regret that the present fuel situation does not justify any relaxation of the restrictions on shop window lighting.

Colonel Erroll

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether, in view of the number of cases of non observance, he will remind traders of the present regulations regarding the display lighting of shop windows.

Mr. Shinwell

The whole question of shop window lighting is under the constant-supervision of my officers and any cases of non-observance are dealt with in accordance with the regulations. I shall be glad to look into any specific cases which the hon. Member may have in mind.
