§ Mr. Edelmanasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what steps have been taken by His Majesty's Government to encourage the setting up of trade unions on a national scale in Germany.
§ Mr. J. HyndThe hon. Member will appreciate that action in respect of matters concerning Germany as a whole must be agreed and co-ordinated by the quadripartite authorities sitting in Berlin. While in the British Zone considerable encouragement is being given to the formation of trade unions—and the same applies, I believe, to other zones —no quadripartite 181W agreement has yet been obtained for the establishment of trade unions on a national basis.
