§ Mr. P. Freemanasked the Prime Minister whether he will issue a table showing comparative figures of all casualties by the armed forces and civilians and of all Allies and enemies during the two wars 1914–18 and 1939–45.
§ The Prime MinisterFull information about enemy casualities is not available, and publication of Allied casualties is a matter for the Allied Governments. It would not therefore be possible for me to issue a table giving the comparative figures for which my hon. Friend asks. As regards British casualties, the total casualties suffered by the Armed Forces of the British Commonwealth and Empire in this war were given in answer to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Central Cardiff (Mr. G. Thomas) on 29th November, 1945; and I am considering the publication of more detailed information of casualties suffered by United Kingdom Armed Forces and civilians during this war.
