§ Lieut.-Colonel Liptonasked the Minister of Food whether retailers may refuse to sell soap except to customers registered for sugar; and whether persons registered for sugar with a retailer who does not sell soap may re-register with another retailer.
§ Sir B. SmithThe answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes, Sir," but he must not impose a condition of sale. The answer to the second part of the Question is that the fact that a retailer does not sell soap would not be regarded by itself as sufficient reason for allowing a transfer of registration for sugar. Soap may, of course, be obtained from retailers other than grocers.
