§ Sir P. Hannonasked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been called to recent regulations made by the Governments of Peru and Ecuador in which a limit of clearance of six months is placed upon the import of British goods into these countries; if he is aware of the difficulties in present circumstances of the delivery of goods in many instances within the prescribed period; and if appropriate representation for an extension of the 464W period for completion of orders is being made to the Governments of these countries.
§ Sir S. CrippsI assume that the hon. Member is referring to the period of validity of import permits for Peru and Ecuador. My latest information about such permits for Peru does not cover the period of validity, but I have asked that the Embassy at Lima should send particulars. As a result of representations to the Government of Ecuador in 1940, the period of validity of import permits was then extended from four to six months.
