HC Deb 12 April 1945 vol 409 c2004W
Dr. Little

asked the Minister of Supply whether, as timber urgently needed for housing requires a prolonged period for seasoning in the ordinary way, he will take up the matter of having timber-seasoning plants erected whereby it will be ready for building purposes in a fraction of the time at present required.

Mr. de Rothschild

A programme of modernising and extending the timber drying-kiln capacity of the country is being carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Supply, in consultation with the Forest Products Research Laboratory, and already a considerable number of existing kilns have been brought up to date and new ones erected.
