§ Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for India what communications 459W respecting political issues arising from the Gandhi-Jinnah discussions have been addressed by these Indian leaders to the Viceroy; and whether the Viceroy and Governor-General will take steps to confer with them at the termination of their discussions.
§ Mr. AmeryI am not aware that any communication has at present been addressed by either leader to the Viceroy in connection with the discussions. Hon. Members will have seen the report in today's Press that the conversations have broken down. In the circumstances I should prefer to say nothing more until the situation is clearer.
