§ Sir G. Gibson
asked the Minister of Information if mails destined for Turkey are despatched in sealed bags addressed to Turkey after being censored here in London; and, if so, why such letters are again opened in Cairo by the censors with a consequent serious loss of time in delivery.
§ Mr. Thurtle
The answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes, Sir." As regards the second part, letters for Turkey are not normally opened again in Cairo, but if my hon. Friend will furnish me with particulars of any specific cases I shall be happy to make further inquiry.264W
