Captain Thorneycroftasked the President of the Board of Trade what information he has with regard to the existence of price-fixing arrangements within the white lead industry; and what steps he proposes to take to control the price of lead paint during the Government's post-war building programme.
§ Mr. DaltonI understand that the principal manufacturers of white lead have an agreement among themselves as to prices, but since the beginning of the year they have undertaken not to raise them without the consent of the Ministry of Supply. The Central Price Regulation Committee is in touch with the industry, with a view to making recommendations for controlling the prices of paint.
