Captain Thorneycroftasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the White Lead Convention and the National Federation of Paint, Colour and Varnish Manufacturers have arrangements for price fixing within the paint manufacturing industry; whether he has any information as to the differences between the selling prices so fixed and the cost of production in 1938 and at the present time; and what steps he proposes to take to ensure that a reasonable relationship is maintained between costs and prices during the course of the Government's post-war building programme.
