§ Captain T. Coxasked the Minister of Health when he expects that arrangements can be made for work to be restarted on slum clearance plans in the Stalybridge, Hyde and Dukinfield areas.
§ Mr. WillinkThe work of slum clearance will be resumed as soon as it is practicable to build the necessary replacement houses, but as my hon. and gallant Friend will appreciate, such new houses as may be built in the earlier part of the period following the end of the European War may well be required to meet the needs of families who have never yet had houses of their own.
