§ Mr. Manderasked the Minister of Health if he will take steps to prevent the extortion of key money from persons desiring to become tenants of houses on housing estates.
§ Mr. WillinkThe Rent Restrictions Acts prohibit the charging of a premium for the grant of a tenancy of a house subject to the provisions of those Acts under penalty of a fine not exceeding£100. If my hon. Friend would be good enough to send me particulars of any housing estates where he has reason to suppose that this practice is adopted, I will have inquiries made.
